For the third year in a row, Site Selection magazine has named the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce one of the nation’s top economic development groups.
The list is compiled through the magazine’s tracking of four objective categories: new jobs, new jobs per 10,000 residents, new capital investment and new capital investment per 10,000 residents. Additionally, Site Selection editors rank the creativity of economic development strategies, scope of project activity and project projections vs. actual results.
The national recognition caps off an outstanding week for economic development in Middle Tennessee. Three companies recently announced plans to expand their existing operations, creating nearly 300 new jobs and investing more than $306 million.
- Global food manufacturer General Mills plans to expand its current operations in Murfreesboro, investing $250 million and creating 117 new jobs.
- Auto parts manufacturer Topre America will invest $53.3 million to expand their facility inside Nissan’s Smyrna plant.
- KHS America, a manufacturer and distributor of musical instruments, is investing more than $3 million to expand its Mt. Juliet workforce by about 75 percent.
