What has been the most valuable aspect of your Chamber membership?

I have met so many interesting and lovely people through the Chamber, and that has been so valuable to me. I am on the New Member Welcoming Committee, which has allowed me to meet and get to know other members of the committee, in addition to the new members that I personally welcome. Events offer so many opportunities to meet others, and I also have a soft spot for the ribbon cuttings. Celebration meets networking!

Who is Fridrich & Clark Realty- Affiliate Broker Tamara Tweedy, and what should we know about her?

Fridrich & Clark Realty was the first “boutique” agency in all of Nashville. We have been around for over 50 years, with deep deep roots in Nashville and the surrounding areas. Steve Fridrich and Whit Clark sit at the helm and guide the agency with their abundance of knowledge and goodness. We have two offices: one in Brentwood and one in Green Hills, and we have been guiding Nashvillians home since 1966. I am very lucky to be among the 190 agents.

I am a Nashville native-ish. I came here when I was five years old. My father was a great musician, and I grew up here in Nashville. My own artistic inclinations took me to University in Boston and the University of Alabama. Then I spent 21 years in New York City. I returned to Nashville in 2014. I always say that I know these roads like the back of my hand, but these roads are quite different from when I was growing up.

What is unique about your business that makes you stand out?

I think outside the box. I have some training in Investment Real Estate, and I am not afraid to dig in my heels to find properties that have not yet hit the market or to speak with for-sale-by-owner sellers or builders for my Buyers. I recently wrote a letter to the woman who lives in the house I grew up in – not your common marketing tool -I told her what a true privilege it would be to help her sell the house if she ever wanted to. Well, I got a text message a few months later, and we are now in conversation about the sale of the house. If an idea comes to me that feels like it has heart, then I go with it. I have good instincts, and I have learned to trust them. I work really hard on the details of a transaction. There are so many touch points in the course of a transaction, especially when listing a home, and I want to honor them all.

What is your best piece of advice for other business owners?

Get up early every day and make it happen. Even if you think it’s “slow”, there is always something to be done. Do it.

How do you stay involved in the community?

I am a regular volunteer with the Second Harvest Food Bank. I am a member of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and the Belcourt Theatre, and I stay engaged with both. And of course, I attend Chamber events. I am a solution-based person, and one of the Chamber advantages is that there are many initiatives that directly affect our ever-growing city. I am diving deeper into being a part of those conversations. Mostly, I am listening right now. Soon I will spring into action.
