Lieutenant Colonel LaKeetra Colvin is commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Nashville. She took command on July 2, 2020.
Lieutenant Colonel Colvin is a U.S. Army active duty Military Intelligence officer. She is a 2001 Distinguished Military Graduate of Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.
Lieutenant Colonel Colvin served as a Gold Bar Recruiter at Jackson State University upon her commissioning. She then attended and graduated the Military Intelligence Officer Basic course. Upon graduation, she served as an Electronic Warfare and Surveillance Platoon Leader for Delta Company, 104th Military Intelligence Battalion, 4thInfantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. She deployed to Iraq in this capacity. While deployed, she became Intelligence Officer for 2nd Battalion, 4th Aviation Brigade, Fort Hood. After redeploying, she served as the Division Special Security Officer for 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood.
After departing Fort Hood, she attended the Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. She returned to Fort Hood upon completion. She served as the assistant Intelligence Officer for 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division and deployed to Iraq.
Lieutenant Colonel Colvin redeployed and assumed command of Bravo Company, Special Troops Battalion, 1stCavalry Division, Fort Hood, and deployed to Iraq in command. Upon redeployment, she served as the Senior Intelligence Officer and Trainer for Operations Group Sierra, Mission Command Training Program, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She later attended the Command General Officer’s Staff Course, Fort Leavenworth.
After leaving Kansas, she joined the 704th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Meade, Maryland, initially as the Operations Officer, Division Chief, and later as the Executive Officer for the 742nd Military Intelligence Battalion. She also served as the Deputy Brigade Commander for the 704th Military Intelligence Brigade jointly as the Deputy of Operations for Capabilities as well as Chief for Operations Support at the National Security Agency, Central Security Service, Fort Meade.
Her military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course, Imagery Intelligence Officer Course and the Command General Officer’s Staff Course. She holds a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts from Jackson State University, and a Master’s in General Administration from Central Michigan University.
Lieutenant Colonel Colvin’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; the Meritorious Unit Award; the National Defense Service Medal; the Iraq Campaign Medal Star; the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
