Who is the Nashville Children’s Theatre and what should we know about you?
Nashville Children’s Theatre is the largest theatre company in Middle Tennessee. According to the Nashville Business Journal, we’re the second highest attended cultural institution in Nashville. In addition to Davidson county, we serve 11 other surrounding counties. Millions of Nashvillians have had their first theatre experience inside our building.
What is unique about your business that makes you stand out?
33% of the young people who attend a show or experience an NCT program receive some kind of scholarship or financial aid. No child is turned away due to financial need. In addition to scholarships, pay what you can tickets are available at every performance.
What’s your biggest goal for your company this year?
Our biggest goal is to return to our pre-COVID audience numbers- and we’re on our way. PETER PAN, this past spring, was seen by more than 20,000 audience members!
What best business practices did you learn in 2020 and what did you do to be creative?
We not only took time to reflect on internal procedures and policies, but we were able to offer online performance classes. Eventually NCT classes had participants in 17 states and 5 countries. We had students in Puerto Rico, Canada, Spain, even India!
