Tell us about yourself?
Hi! Started as a correctional officer with CoreCivic in 1992 working the midnight shift at a maximum security facility in Leavenworth, Kansas. I have now been with the company 32 years and nearly 15 years as CEO.

Tell us about your business/industry?
We own and operate and own and lease prisons, jails, detention centers, and community corrections facilities in the United States.

What should we know about you?
Super proud father to Milly and Robert and husband to Carrie.

How did you get to your current position?
I was very fortunate…my predecessor, John Ferguson, saw something in me.,

What value do you see in Chamber involvement?
They are a tremendous partner and advocate for the business community.

What advice would you give your 25-year-old self?
Keep learning and run towards the big, hairy projects and challenges.

What makes you proud to live and work in the Nashville area?
With CoreCivic working in about 20 states, I travel a lot. Tennessee and Nashville are the envy of many, many states! That makes me so proud.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? What is the best part of working in your field?
Touring our facilities and see our team fulfilling our mission. Really recharges my batteries when I spend time them.

The Conservative Heart: How to Build a Fairer, Happier, and More Prosperous America by Arthur Brooks.
Arthur Brooks is a genius! Recently finished his book “Love Your Enemies”, which was really good too.
