Who is the Tennessee Nurses Association: Music City – District 3, and what should we know about you?
Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) – Music City District 3 is the largest district within the Tennessee Nurses Association, proudly representing nurses in Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Giles, Hickman, Houston, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, and Williamson counties. Our board of directors is composed of dedicated nurse leaders who volunteer their time to elevate the nursing profession through advocacy, education, professional development, and community engagement. We are passionate about governance and the collective voice of nurses, ensuring our members are informed, empowered, and represented at every level.

What has been the most valuable aspect of your Chamber membership?
Although we are new members of the Chamber of Commerce, we deeply value the Chamber’s commitment to community-focused initiatives. We look forward to leveraging this partnership to expand our reach, strengthen relationships, and enhance our community impact.

Can you share a significant lesson you have learned as a business leader?
Association management can be both challenging and rewarding. As nurses, we understand that leadership extends beyond the bedside. Many of our members are nurse entrepreneurs, innovators, and active participants in professional governance—roles that require strategic thinking, finance knowledge, adaptability, and the ability to unite people behind a common mission.

How do you manage and maintain a positive company culture?
Culture, positivity, and civility are paramount to our mission. We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for negativity, bullying, and incivility to ensure every member feels safe, respected, and valued. Our culture is one of collaboration, mutual respect, and professional growth.

Are there new markets or demographics you are targeting?
We are focusing on outreach to high school students interested in nursing careers, employers of nurses, bedside nurses, nurse practitioners, schools of nursing, and other professional nursing associations in the region. These partnerships allow us to cultivate the next generation of nurses while fostering collaboration across healthcare sectors.

The Tennessee Nurses Association is the premier organization representing nurses across Tennessee. We believe nurses must have a seat at the table in all healthcare discussions. We stay informed through our parent organization, the American Nurses Association (ANA), legislative and policy updates at the state and national level, national and state nursing conferences, peer-reviewed journals, professional networks, and reputable news outlets. This ensures our members are always aware of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.

Can you share why the Nashville region is a good place to do business?
Nashville and its surrounding counties are experiencing rapid growth, making it a vibrant place to live and work. As a healthcare hub with nationally recognized medical centers and numerous nursing schools, our region attracts individuals from across the nation for education, careers, and professional opportunities. How do you stay involved in the community?
Our board of directors actively participates in local events, health fairs, educational programs, and civic initiatives.
