Kenect Nashville is an apartment and coworking community in the heart of Music Row. What has been the most valuable aspect of your Chamber membership?

– We have made organic connections with many members, such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s, ABC Sports, U.S. Bank, and many local businesses, for our pop-up and networking events. Kenect is an advocate for local businesses, offering a variety of platforms for any business to showcase their services and products to our 800+ members and residents who live and work at Kenect. We love to participate in the Chamber chats and Chamber events to meet new members and businesses.

Can you share a significant lesson you have learned as a business leader?

– As a business leader and industry disruptor, one of the lessons learned is to always compare and extensively research when choosing new technologies. There are so many new tech companies out there, all with different levels of knowledge and capabilities in an ever-changing world. It’s also important to find the right talent for the role you’re hiring for and to ensure the job description is very clear. As a new model for housing in the industry, it can be easy to pull people in different directions. Help reduce burnout by keeping your talent in their specific roles.

How do you manage and maintain a positive company culture?

– We love to have internal incentives and perks for our team members when they get a positive shout-out online! We set team goals and provide team outings for bonding. Having morning and weekly stand-up meetings to go over items of focus and celebrate positive feedback is encouraging to team members. We also ensure birthdays and anniversaries are a big deal to celebrate, no matter the role within the company.

Are there new markets or demographics you are targeting?

– Due to fair housing, we cannot address demographics, and we invite anyone to apply that would meet our occupancy and residency guidelines. However, Kenect is focusing on smaller living spaces and bigger amenities, coworking, and experiences for the busy professional.

What is unique about your business that makes you stand out?

– Everything! We do not boast large floor plans, and our clients and members realize they are paying for the location, furnished apartments, fitness offerings, and sense of community with over 30 events a month, including small offsite experiences. During the summer, we utilize the amenity deck heavily for Pool Jams, which have become an open mic night for some serious rising talent around Music Row and is now giving local musicians a platform and inclusive space to test out new songs. Kenect is also a national brand where our members can use any Kenect when they travel to our other cities to use the coworking space, fitness, restaurants, and social experiences. Kenect makes it possible by including everything for one price, under one roof.

How do you stay informed about industry trends and changes?

– We are members of the GNAA and NAA and stay informed with the Multi-Family Insiders, TecHome Builders, Multi-Family Innovators, and other local and federal resources.

How do you stay involved in the community?

– Kenect has hosted bi-yearly festivals to promote local businesses only, including a yearly Juneteenth pop-up for local minority-owned businesses over the last 3 years. Kenect has been an official drop-off location for the National Flood Disaster Relief for the flood victims of Eastern Kentucky, with a grass-roots effort to collect and distribute materials to victims. Kenect continues to hire and support local businesses by having in-house live influencers for food catering, music/AV, photography, and fitness offerings. Kenect’s team is made up of talented artists and professionals who help run the community, and we celebrate their talents. Kenect is a staple of Midtown Music Row, but the abundant rentable event spaces onsite and 24-hour coworking and fitness for outside community members You don’t have to live at Kenect to be part of Kenect!
