We are the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: Nearly 169 million residences, businesses, and Post Office Boxes, including rural and remote areas, six and often seven days a week. We deliver reliability, security, and affordability. We generally receive no tax dollars for operating expenses and rely on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund our operations. We are committed to serving the American people and businesses with essential communication and delivery services.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your Chamber membership?
USPS engagement with the Chamber allows us to build strong relationships within the local business community. Engaging with local Chambers of Commerce provides vital connections to the business community. It provides a platform for us to understand the needs of local businesses and to communicate how our services can support their growth. It also allows us to be a part of the local community, to learn from other local business leaders and build invaluable connections for maintain strong relationships with our business customers.
Can you share a significant lesson you have learned as a business leader?
We have learned the importance of continuous adaptation and innovation in the face of evolving communication technologies and customer expectations. We’ve learned that remaining relevant requires us to embrace technological advancements, streamline our operations, and diversify our service offerings to meet the changing needs of the American public. This means finding new ways to deliver value, while also maintaining the core of our mission: universal service.
How do you manage and maintain a positive company culture?
USPS fosters a culture of service, integrity, safety, and respect. Our culture is built on a foundation of public service and commitment. We prioritize the well-being of our employees through comprehensive training, safety programs, and open communication. We also focus on training and development to ensure our employees have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
Are there new markets or demographics you are targeting?
Yes, we are actively targeting the growing e-commerce market by enhancing our package delivery services and providing convenient shipping solutions for online retailers. We are also focused on serving small businesses by offering affordable and reliable mailing and shipping options. We continue to improve our shipping products, and package tracking, to maintain our position in the shipping industry.
