In the months following Winter Storm Fern, businesses across Middle Tennessee have made meaningful progress rebuilding and reopening. With recovery efforts still underway, additional programs and support services are now available to help navigate remaining challenges.
Business Resources
Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans
Low-interest disaster loans are now available to help businesses, nonprofits, and residents recover from damage and ongoing operational impacts. Eligible businesses may access funding up to $2 million, depending on need and qualifications. Deadlines to apply vary by loan type.
IRS Tax Relief and Filing Extensions
The IRS has extended certain federal tax filing and payment deadlines to May 22, 2026, for individuals and businesses. This includes additional time to file, pay, and complete time-sensitive tax actions, easing financial and administrative pressure during recovery.
Volunteer Opportunities for Business Teams
Cleanup efforts remain ongoing, and businesses can play a direct role by organizing volunteer groups to assist with debris removal across the region. More than 1,000 cleanup requests are still pending. Volunteer through Hands On powered by United Way, and help your neighbors recover. Businesses are encouraged to coordinate team volunteer days to support remaining recovery work.

- Host meetings or events using local venues and vendors
- Share recovery resources to ensure awareness of available support
Community Resources
Winter Storm Recovery Fund Update
Recovery efforts coordinated by United Way of Greater Nashville, Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), and Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee continue to deliver support across the region. To date, more than $2.3 million has been raised for the Winter Storm Recovery Fund, with $1.2 million already distributed to assist 1,800 families. Funding and services continuing to be deployed. Share your needs by calling 2-1-1 or support the ongoing recovery efforts for families throughout our area.
Metro Action Commission Emergency Assistance
Applications reopen April 27 for short-term financial support, including rent, mortgage, and utility assistance for Davidson County residents experiencing storm-related hardship.
FEMA Individual Assistance
Federal assistance is available for qualifying individuals to help cover temporary housing, home repairs, and replacement of essential property.
