Each year, community leaders come together to develop a set of actionable recommendations aimed at improving student success rates across the district. This collaborative effort has consistently driven meaningful change, and 2024 is poised to be no different.
During the initial meeting, the committee was briefed by MNPS Chief of Staff Hank Clay, who provided an in-depth overview of the district’s current successes and challenges. This valuable insight set the stage for the committee’s work, helping members understand the critical issues at hand and the potential impact of their recommendations.
At the second convening, committee members met at Whites Creek High School and gained firsthand insight into the school’s progress and innovative programs. During the visit, the committee observed the school’s specialized pathways, including the Alternative Energy Pathway and the Criminal Justice and Law Pathway. A student panel, featuring ambassadors from the early college program, provided valuable perspectives, with several students on track to graduate with both high school diplomas and associate degrees this spring. This visit allowed the committee to gain valuable insights on potential topics and recommendations.
The final topic choice will be announced at the next convening, ensuring that the committee’s focus is both relevant and impactful.
